A free ticket. I AMsterdam

After Utrecht, the next stop was Amsterdam.

When I arrived in Holland, as a gift I got a train ticket to travel wherever I want to go for a whole weekend without paying extra. A perfect gift, right? We decided to use it to go to Amsterdam. We took the Randstadrail from Zoetermeer to The Hague Censtral Station and thereafter an NS Intercity train to the city of bikes. (Here you can find the trains way: htm.nl and ns.nl)

My first recommendation when you are there is: Watch out with the bikers! As a lot of you guys know, bicycles, apart from being used to do sports, it is a very popular transportation in The Netherlands.

This city is heavily visited by tourists from all around the world and that day wasn’t the exception. We walked across some streets, canals and bridges. We found beautiful houses and places to make pictures of.

The museums are a must see. Of course, we visited The Rijksmuseum, but before we enjoyed taking photos of ourselves with the “I AMsterdam-sign”. I have to say that I’ve never seen so many kind of art in a same place. It was incredible.

Después de conocer Utrecht, la siguiente parada sería Amsterdam.

Al llegar a Holanda, me obsequiaron un tiquete de tren para ir donde quisiera durante todo un fin de semana sin tener que pagar extra. Un regalo perfecto verdad? Decidimos usarlo para ir a Amsterdam. Tomamos un tren del Randstadrail desde Zoetermeer hasta la Estación Central de La Haya para luego tomar el Intercity que nos llevaría a la ciudad de las bicicletas (aquí puedes encontrar las rutas de los trenes: htm.nl and ns.nl)

Mi primera recomendación una vez estés ahí es: Cuidado con los ciclistas! Como la mayoría de ustedes saben, las bicicletas aparte de ser utilizadas para hacer deporte, es un medio de transporte muy popular en Los Países Bajos.

Esta ciudad es muy visitada por turistas de todas partes del mundo y este día no fue la excepción. A pie recorrimos algunas de las calles, puentes y canales del centro. Encontramos hermosas casas y lugares dignos de una fotografía.

Y como los museos son un must see, por supuesto, no podíamos dejar de visitar el Museo de Rijks, pero antes aprovechamos para tomarnos algunas fotos con el gran parador “I AMsterdam”. Debo reconocer que nunca había apreciado tantas formas de arte reunidas en un solo lugar. Fue increíble.

We left the museum in the night. The yellow lights of the city were shining so bright, creating paiting-like views, where the dark night sky were reflected by sparkle, making me feel so close to it. Almost touchable if you rised your hands. Just amazing.

Amsterdam has so much to give, but I advice you to make a list of all the places you want to visit before. In this way you will know how much time you have for all of them. If you go to the Rijksmuseum, you will need a whole day to enjoy all the exhibitions.

I still need to explore so much of Amsterdam. I will definitely come back and share all these new adventures with you.

Al salir del museo ya en la noche, las luces de la ciudad alumbraban de un amarillo brillante, creando vistas como pintadas a mano, en donde la oscuridad del cielo nocturno era reflejado por su destello, dando la sensación de que estaba muy cerca y que al levantar las manos podías casi tocar. Simplemente asombroso.

Amsterdam tiene mucho que ofrecer, pero te recomiendo que antes que la visites, realices una lista de los lugares que deseas conocer, de esta manera sabrás cuánto tiempo tienes para estar en cada uno de ellos. Si vas al Museo de Rijks, necesitarás todo un día para disfrutar de todas las exhibiciones.

Aún tengo mucho Amsterdam que explorar. Definitivamente iré en una segunda oportunidad y compartiré con ustedes esa nueva aventura.
